FROM THE TEA SELLER'S TABLE (DAGA TEBURIN MAI SHAYI)

“Whenever my children offend me, I intentionally intimidate them with insults towards their mother. This makes my married daughters not to disrespect or attempt to leave their husband’s houses. I inform them intimidatingly to either stay married or I divorce their mother.”

Mallam Magaji hails from katsina state but resides in Kachia Local government, kaduna State. He is a wealthly man and a famous wholesaler whose business is mainly in buying and selling in village markets. He has wealth and properties, although the wealth never lasted he has properties in abundance. Mallam Magaji in his efforts to make his four wives and children respect him has resulted in being harsh and using the stick method. Humiliation is his style of leadership and of course the respect he yearns for is achieved.

There was a day his son offended him, he came out into the compound and rudely called out,” ok, your mother encourages you to do whatever you want in my house, right? Wallahi mallam Magaji pushes them to the boiling point, but the children are respectful to avoid their mother’s public brutality and humiliation.

If a married daughter defies her husband, her father Mallam Magaji will suddenly appear in her marital home shower her insults and threaten to send her mother away from his home saying she is the initiator of her disrespect towards her husband. This is the reasons none of his daughters have ever left their husband’s house in fear of their father terrorizing them. Do you think if mallam magaji is poor his style of leadership filled with brutality and rudeness would be successful?
